Pequot Lakes Boys Take Third, Girls Fourth at Eveleth

The Pequot Lakes Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country teams placed third and fourth respectively at the Eveleth-Gilbert Invitational on Thursday September 17.

The boys had three runners finishers in the top 20. Silas Lydeen was the top Pequot finisher in fourth place with a time of 17:58. Adison Runberg placed 13th with a time of 18:50, and Jake Braam was in 16th place with a time of 19:08. Other runners included (24) Jordan Anderson 19:45, (25) Sam Headlee 19:47, (32) Michael Goerges 20:06, (33) Jacob Headlee 20:08.

The top finisher for the Patriot varsity girls were Kylie Beltz in sixth place with a time of 17:12; Other Patriot girls’ runners included (20) Sydney Johnson 18:41; (22) Jordan Roy 18:49; (27) Savannah Stone 19:08; (41) Ashley LaRock 20:15; (44) Elise Runberg 20:22; and (45) Michelle Hayes 20:23.

The junior high teams had three in the top for the Boys’ 4000m, who finished sixth out of nine teams. Josh Olson placed third, Kevin Ryan was fifth and Alex Senst was tenth. For the girls, Jackie Brine-Doyle placed second and in sixth was Sarah Rudlang. They finished fourth out of five teams.

Boys’ team results:
Eveleth/Gilbert 40,Virginia 74, Pequot Lakes 82, Mesabi East 151, Cook County 158, Marshal School 163, International Falls 178, Ely 180, Proctor 213, Carlton 275, Greenway 281.

Girls’ team results:
Cook County 62, International Falls 79, Proctor 98, Pequot Lakes 109, Ely 111, Eveleth/Gilbert 118, Mesabi East 171, Carlton 173, Virginia 202.
