WAPOA to host AIS Roundtable April 22nd
Web posted April 18, 2017
It seems that Spring is approaching relative to open water on our lakes, even though the calendar reminds that Spring arrived several weeks ago. While it will be time to get the docks and watercraft in the water soon, we also know that we are threatened by unwanted critters and plants that are not native to our area, but seem to “hitch hike” to this wonderful area of Minnesota.
The Whitefish Area Property Owners Association (WAPOA) is hosting the 2017 AIS Roundtable on Saturday morning, April 22, 8am-noon, at the Ideal Community Center. The roundtable discussions and topics will include: report on the County 2017 AIS Plan, Legislative Developments, AIS issues for 2017, the AIS Detectors/Trackers Program, and AIS Prevention Best Practices.
The WAPOA planning team strongly believes that we need to remain vigilant, have the latest and best information, and share ideas and resources in our “battle” with non-native AIS.
You are invited, and please invite your Lake Association Board and LID Board members, friends and neighbors to attend this event to “kick start” our 2017 lake season and get an update on subjects to assist us in the prevention of nonnative aquatic invasive species (AIS).
Coffee, tea, and beverages and a few treats will be provided. Please contact Tom Watson at (218) 543-6064 or (612) 751-0124 if you are planning to attend.
