New board members elected to the Cass County Economic Development Corporation

Four board members were elected at the Cass County Economic Development Corporation’s 6th annual meeting in Walker on October 29th.

Joining the 11 person board are Brian “Mike” Myers, Cass Lake; Laura J. Hansen, Hackensack and Longville; Bill Palmer, East Gull Lake; and re-elected board member Jay Cline, Jenkins.

“I am so excited to work with this talented board of directors in 2010 to improve the economy,” said Gail Leverson, Executive Director of the EDC.

Brian “Mike” Myers is Director of Tribal Development for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe and brings 20 years of community and economic development experience. He believes in integrated efforts between LLBO and communities for lasting growth and development.

Laura J. Hansen is Owner and Manager of Bill Hansen Realty. A licensed attorney with business law experience gives her the ability to manage her business with legal and leadership skillfulness. Laura is interested in using these abilities to develop the economic success in the area. Bill Palmer has a background in management, finance and healthcare with a MBA in Finance. Bill is a Clinic Administrator for Brainerd Lakes Health. He believes that economic development –and the EDCcan greatly benefit the communities in Cass County by supporting business development.

Returning board member Jay Cline is the Branch Manager of Woodland Bank in Jenkins. He has more than 25 years of lending experience and has worked for various community banks throughout the lakes area.

The EDC is a public/private partnership that provides technical assistance for businesses to help them create jobs and capital investment in Cass County. The organization is supported by Cass County, memberships and fees for services.
